The House

Older than our name

Before this shophouse carried our name, it carried the oldest name in barbering. Truefitt & Hill — barbers of St James's, London, since 1805 — kept their Singapore flagship here at 9 Ann Siang Road, and this was where the city's gentlemen came for a proper cut and a proper shave.

When their tenure ended, we chose stewardship over renovation. The sepia photographs still watch over the chairs. The members' brushes still hang beneath their brass nameplates. The straight razors, the hot towels, the unhurried pace — all of it continues, the way it was meant to.

A brush of your own

Regulars of the house keep a personal badger brush on the wall, each beneath an engraved brass plate. It waits between visits; it's yours whenever you take the chair. Type your name — see how it would look in brass.
